Let’s demystify COMPRESSORS, sculpt with EQs and move audio around on a BUS. We will focus on all 3 of these audio tools and some “psychoacoustic stuff.” Yes, there are “rules,” but we will break them if it sounds good.

Compressors:

  4. -6dB (Then break the rules)
  5. Psychoacoustic Tricks of Compression: How we perceive compression and how it affects us physiologically

EQ:

  1. 2 Types of “Correction:” Surgical or Aesthetic
  2. Q, Frequency, Gain Demystified
  3. EQ by Subtraction: David (Michelangelo)
  4. -6dB (Then break the rules)
  5. Key Frequencies Cheat Code

BUS:

  1. DCA(VCA) vs Groups: The differences and benefits/limitations of each
  2. Why is it Called a Bus?
  3. When to Use a DCA (you only have 10 fingers)
  4. When to Use a Group or Aux Bus

Mix is a Verb:

  1. Logarithmic Faders
  2. Keep Your Head Up
  3. Walk Around
  4. Thick Skin, but Be Teachable (Jack Puig TS10 story)
  5. Sugar Pill Fader
  6. Know the Client; Know the Culture. It’s not YOUR mix.
