The past year has taught us many things about ourselves. We’ve learned the importance of connection. We’ve learned how essential family and community can be. It’s challenged us to “pivot”, “shift” and “adapt”.
Here we are in the beginning of the next phase of this pandemic: vaccination and return to normalcy. The light at the end of this dark tunnel is now visible, albeit faint and off in the distance. For us at CFX, we’ve set our goal in 2021 to REFOCUS.
We want to be able to bring our attention back to our original purpose. These are the things that make us who we are and drive us daily both as people and as the organizations we serve. 2020 had us change how we worked and led us astray of our intentions to thrive.
So, what does that mean for your church? How are you going to REFOCUS? Does that mean preparing to bring your community back home safely to your facility? Many churches took this time to learn how to clean and keep their facilities sanitary. Some churches used this time to improve their audio, video and lighting systems. But will the pivoting and shifting we did in 2020 allow us to accomplish our mission we originally set out to reach?
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things, (Philippians 4:8 KJV).
My father is a Music Minister of his church in Rhode Island. Like many churches, they needed to adapt to virtual services very quickly. As a small Catholic church in the northeast, St. Margaret’s hadn’t spent any of its time or money investing in technology to connect virtually. As you can imagine, this affected the parish’s engagement, connection and ultimately church revenue without the ability to gather in person. As they move forward into “the new normal” they’re learning to incorporate the hard lessons learned in 2020 and utilize the technologies they quickly incorporated to connect on-line. But they, like all of us, are turning their sights back towards their mission of serving God and their community.
We at CFX look to 2021, we are putting our REFOCUSed energy towards building our live in-person Conference & Expo this September 21-22 in Dallas, TX. The event theme of REFOCUS means a great deal for us as organizers of this event as well as those who would attend. We are watching the news carefully while we plan and look for all of us to come together safely and confidently.
We now know how much we all need to get together to inspire and prepare to gather after the pandemic. We hope you’ll be able to join us to connect with your peers, meet with the technology and service providers in the expo and learn from the best educators in the industry this September in Dallas. Registration will be opening in April and program information will be coming soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, please be safe and secure at home with your families. We’ll have the opportunity to connect soon!
